About the author

Ade McCormack

Ade McCormack is founder of Auridian, which is focused on helping organisations maximise the business return on their IT investment. He is the author of The IT Value Stack - A Boardroom Guide to IT Leadership (Wiley 2007) and IT Demystified – The IT handbook for business professionals. Ade has a column in the Financial Times advising business leaders on business-IT issues.

The first half of Ade’s career was spent in software development. Initially as a real-time software engineer/technical project manager at Ferranti Computer Systems (three years) and then with LogicaCMG (seven years). Whilst at LogicaCMG, Ade worked with the European Space Agency, Credit Suisse First Boston, Royal Navy, Coastguard Agency and the Ministry of Defence. He also had account and line management responsibilities.

Ade noticed that in general there was a lack of communication between IT and business people. He also noted during a particularly bad sports accident whilst in hospital that those working in the Health Sector consistently exhibited a high degree of professionalism in comparison to the IT Sector. These observations led Ade to conclude that the IT industry as a whole was under performing.

Consequently Ade set up Auridian to help organisations realise the full value of their IT investment. Since 1995, Auridian has worked with over 500 clients in this respect.

Ade holds an Honours degree in Physics with Astrophysics University of Leicester, England.
